Song Ship Argosy (SS Argosy) is a spaceship in the galaxies whose main mission is to keep the peace among the Cosmos by the power of music. Song Ship Argosy’s Musical was created to carry the Music and Poetry of every Race to every place, giving the audience a sense of togetherness—regardless of race, color, or creed —through music! SS Argosy combines poetry from multiple languages with new cosmic romantic melodies, and modern dance to create a bilingual, musical galactic story that engages the body and mind.

ACT 1

  • Scene 01 - Overture: Bird of a Legend.
    Medium: The audience is welcomed with a cinematic experience across multiple monitors. A live Drone hovers and performs the overture, adding a touch of technological elegance. A narrated film tells the origin story of the SongShip Argosy and the tragedy of the Preenz of Planet Sufrut, who created the SS Argosy in the pursuit of peace and harmony. Synopsis of the movie of the Overture with spoken narration of: “How SongShip Argosy Was Created”.

    In a galaxy torn apart by war, The Preenz of Planet Sufrut dreams of peace through music. He builds the SongShip Argosy, a vessel not of war, not for battle, but for peace through music. Staffed by poets, musicians, dancers and programmers the ship’s mission is to explore the cosmos and gather musical traditions from every world it visits, including Planet Earth.

    But power tempts even the noble. The Preenz appoints his sister, the cunning and ambitious The Kontessa of Turfus, to Command the ship, as a Captain, alongside the wise Admiral. The Kontessa secretly weaponizes the SS Argosy’s sonic technology, using its powerful speakers to destroy the musical essence of a proud Yellow/Robot-Humanoid Musicians known as the Kanoos. With their voices of melodies and harmony silenced, the Kanoos become The Kontessa instruments of destruction. Together, they attack Planet Sufrut the Preenz’s palace and killing his family—except for a baby girl, and her Nanni who survive. The Kontessa covers up the crime and places the baby girl and the Nanni in a Space Orphanage while secretly watching over her. Eventually, the Kontessa is removed from commanding SS Argosy, but her ambitions remain forever.

    The Movie/Overture: As the overture concludes, the transition from cinematic screens to "Billboard Screens" marks a unique twist. The darkened entrance to a room at night emerges, creating an air of mystery. At stage-left, a woman appears in silhouette, ready to share the tale through song. The haunting melody of "Orphan of the Night" begins, filling the air with emotion and drawing the audience deeper into the story.

    Sorana and Miguel, in separate locations, sing their commitment to each other across space.

Some Background About the Creator

Efrain H Logreira (Efrem), a native of South America, came to the U.S as a young man to become a jazz musician. He received a scholarship from Disney Studios of what is now the California Institute of the Arts. While still a student, he was invited by Creative-World-Stan-Kenton-Orchestra/dp/B000001P2V, the renowned bandleader, to continue his education "on the road" as a professional musician. Mr. Logreira worked with Mr. Kenton for seven years and continued to perform world-class jazz percussion around the world with such luminaries as, Royal Jamm by the Jazz Crusaders, Freddie Hubbard, José Feliciano, Gabor Zsabo, Rene Touzet, The Ballet Canadian, The Nelson Riddle Orchestra and did some concerts as “special guest” with Miles Davis and many more jazz musicians. Mr. Logreira's talents have been recognized in contemporary, Latin and jazz music, as well as theatrical presentations. https://www.discogs.com/artist/648575-Efraim-Logreira.

"Efrem" later lead his own band, a Latin Jazz group, and performed in Mexico, Canada, London, Paris, the United States, South America, He opened shows for B.B King, the Jazz Crusaders and the London Philharmonic on a world tour in 1993. Mr. Logreira signed a contract with RCA Victor to record an album in Toronto Canada (Hit single: “Kill the Hairy Beast” and Purulé) and wrote the hit songs for Maria Conchita Alonso - Acércate Más (YouTube). Efrem contributed as a musician in the Academy Award documentary winner “Centinela del Silencio”.

As a Composer: Mr. Logreira wrote and produced the Spanish theme (commercial) for the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics and was commissioned to compose a theme song for the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona. He composed music themes for documentaries for the Canadian Broadcasting Company (CBC) and musical themes for Playboy, Coca-Cola, Holiday-Inn, and Ferrari. He also wrote music themes for the news for Telemundo Network and Univision Network. Efrem conducted Percussion Seminars around the country, including Berkley School of Music, Redlands University, Pasadena City College, Santa Monica City College, among others. Created/produced a bilingual Children’s Song Book for “A Special Children”.).

As a Musical Director: He continued his musical career as a Musical Director for musical plays, including the show Hair, in Toronto, Canada and variety musical reviews for Yale Wexler Productions in Chicago. He worked as the musical conductor for David Bell Productions (LPD, HBO) on the weekly "The Dr. Susan Block Show."

As a Writer/Playwright: Mr. Logreira collaborated on the National Spanish International Network, the same year, he wrote "Salud 2000" a quarterly Newsletter for the Hispanic community on health care. In 1993, Mr. Logreira became an editor and writer for a national Hispanic magazine (Noticiero Argentino – Uruguayo) and concurrently produced a Spanish newsletter on legal issues.
