How Songship Argosy Was Created

The Universe was at war with itself. Everywhere, worlds turned on one another; the carnage was endless. Legends of horror and heroism abound.

Two remarkable people, The Preenz of Sufrut and his half –sister the Kontessa of Turfus ruled the twin planets of Sufrut and Turfus.

The Preenz of Sufrut wanted peace so he could return to what he loved the most: Music! He realized that every song he heard from every planet sounded sad. His only happiness was his wife and his baby daughter and for the first time in many years, he smiled and said… "Music is the life of the soul everywhere. Music is the one ocean that washes the shores of all our souls. If we are ever to live together in harmony, then, music is the sea upon which we must all sail. I will build a vessel to carry the music of harmony to every ear."

So, the Preenz built SongShip Argosy.

Where other ships had battalions of warriors, SongShip Argosy had legions of musicians. Where other ships had lasers, SongShip Argosy had synthesizers. And where other ships had space gravity cannons, SongShip Argosy had vast speakers.

The PREENZ appointed both an old friend, as The ADMIRAL, and The Kontessa of Turfus as SongShip Argosy’s first CAPTAIN.

No one was surprised when the Preenz chose the Admiral, for his wisdom was legendary. However, everyone was astounded when the Kontessa became SS. Argosy's first Captain.

The Kontessa, since childhood, revealed her brilliant skills in strategy and tactics, yet due to her jealousy of the Preenz and her own greed, she was angry and aggressive. She became the most invincible and feared pilot in the galaxies and led her squadrons on scores of successful missions. Only after her husband was killed and she was consumed with grief --- she found that she was carrying his child and then she temporarily softened her aggressions.

Upon becoming Captain of SSArgosy, her greedy ambitions resurfaced. This was the perfect opportunity for the Kontessa to reach her goal of becoming the ruler of all music in the galaxies.

Near the twin planets of Sufrut and Turfus there was a SPACE STATION called KANOOS, which was inhabited by the KANOOS. The KANOOS were the only blue/Humanoid race, and they were proud to be considered the most talented musicians and composers in the galaxies. They had one of the most sophisticated means of transportation and they were also Pirates and Rebels.

The Kontessa needed the Kanoos; she required soldiers to subjugate in order to carry out her evil plans to take total control of SSArgosy. Absorbed with her own self-importance, she pushed Argosy's powerful AMPS SPEAKERS to full power-blast and rendered every citizen of Kanoos instantly Tone-Deaf.


The trauma of the massive sound wave from SS Argosy's speaker was so great that no one on the space station could remember what happened. The collective memory of the Kanoos was erased in an instant. They literally could not recognize a melody, let alone tell one song from another.
They could not tell the difference between harmony and cacophony. They suffered some kind of ‘AMUSIA’... Alas, even their speaking voices were atonal, but they retained a Fantastic Sense of Rhythm.

Now that their natural capability to process MELODIES was destroyed, the Kanoos created specially wired HELMETS that allowed them to recognize melodies. Yet, as hard as they tried, they were never able to produce TONAL MUSIC. This frustrated them to no end. The other civilizations rejected any music they tried to produce. The Kanoos were stripped of their age-old musical talents and traditions, without which they were nothing.

The Admiral knew that, as music became the most desirable commodity in the universe, creating music would become the most valued currency. Unable to create music, the Kanoos would never share in the prosperity of harmony.

The Admiral realized the true dimensions of the tragedy before anyone else. He knew that as music became the most desirable commodity in the universe, creating music would become the most valued currency. Unable to and he removed the Kontessa as Captain of Argosy. He promised the Kanoos to find for them a secure station in the galaxies so they could live apart and in peace.

After the disaster, The Preenz ordered The Admiral to dismiss the Kontessa as the Captain of SSArgosy and introduce a NEW CAPTAIN. His name was Miguel.

The Kontessa was enraged with her dismissal, even though The Admiral shielded her from being blamed. Now she was angry because she lost the position of power from where she could launch her odyssey to become the most powerful person in the universe of music.

She then began to plot her revenge on The Admiral. The Kontessa told the Kanoos that The Admiral had dismissed her to protect himself. The Amp Speakers explosion was his error, and he was hiding behind his authority. She promised the Kanoos that, if they helped her regain control of SS Argosy, she would grant them citizenship in Turfus and to make them richer than any musicians in the galaxy. The Kanoos chose the only future that seemed open to them and vowed their loyalty to the Kontessa.

Following the Kontessa's orders, the Kanoos went to Sufrut. Their objective was to capture SS Argosy, kill The Admiral, the new Captain and the Preenz and destroy his Palace. Once they circled Sufrut, The Kanoos learned that the Admiral had left Sufrut earlier that day.

They proceeded to attack and destroy the Preenz' Palace, killing the Preenz, his Wife and all who lived there. Well, nearly all…

After the attack, the Kanoos found two lone survivors, a baby protected by her Nanny. Using their blasting earphones, they muted the Nanny and took the Nanny and baby girl with them.

The Kanoos sped to Turfus to report to the Kontessa that they had completed their mission, at least part of their mission. Kanoo-Kanoo, the chief of the Kanoos, declared, “No one survived except a baby and her Nanny. And the Nanny won't be telling anyone what happened as we rendered her deaf and mute" he smiled, tapping his yellow earphones.

The Admiral did what he could to keep peace. SSArgosy took full responsibility for the "accident". He promised the Kanoos to find for them a secure station in the galaxies so they could live apart and in peace.

“And the Admiral and the Captain?” asked the Kontessa. “I’m sorry, Kontessa, but they had left Sufrut before we got there.” Replied Kanoo-Kanoo.

“You stupid, ignorant BLUE,ROBOT man” She cried, “You will pay a price for your incompetence. And where are this child and Nanny? Give them to me now!" She demanded. "Sorry Kontessa, we already left them on the steps of Space Orphanage.” Kanoo-Kanoo silently clenched his body that reveals that his loyalty to her is quickly fading.

The Kanoos left. Only the Kontessa and the Nanny knew who destroyed the Preenz’ Palace on Sufrut.

The next morning, SS Argosy returned to Sufrut to find the Palace entirely destroyed.

On neighboring Turfus, the Kontessa paid an unexpected visit to the Space Orphanage. Passing the new arrivals' ward, she stopped before a crib over which the wounded Nanny was keeping a careful watch." What's this?" She asked.

The Mother Superior bustled forward. "We found them outside. The woman can't speak or hear, but she was carrying papers identifying her as a servant of the Royal House of Sufrut. But that can't be because the entire palace was destroyed. I'm afraid we don't know what to make of them. Very strange."

"Yes,” said the Kontessa, "Very strange indeed." She paused. "But I don't want any scandals blemishing the memory of my dear departed brother, so I'll just take those papers and destroy them. We do understand each other, Sister?"

The nun nodded respectfully. As she took the papers, The Kontessa said, "Treat them well, Sister, whoever they are."

Afterward, the Kontessa always made a point of asking about the girl and her Nanny on every visit to the orphanage. And so the Mother Superior was not surprised when the Kontessa offered to become the official guardian of the young lady's seventeenth birth ...The young lady's name was SORANA.
